The Calm Before The End

02 Jul

If ever there were a time to be
Timeless- a man can stand-
But heaven says the emptiness
:: it tugs on your heart; insistent
like a child ::
Must live within, immortalized,
And forever cold;

Acid-etched napkins, your memoir
dispensed in ethereal paper

and the sweat from your glass
the blood from your wrists
-you mop up the table-
and apologize to the
waitress.

She only brought you the meal.
